Finished Basement Walls

Aaaah.....now it looks like a basement!  The first photo is of the forms being pulled off of the walls.  It is amazing to me that the walls have hardened enough for them to pull the forms the very next day, not even 24 hours after pouring.  The remaining pictures are of the finished walls.  Mike Miller and his crew applied a waterproofing product that has a lifetime warranty.  The installation is critical as well as the back fill procedure to ensure that the warranty will not be nullified.   Mike explained that the perforation on the dimple board that was used allows the water to drop to the bottom of the wall and drain away.  The static pressure from the dirt around the basement will not force the water into the basement walls through any imperfection.

Removing the forms from the freshly poured walls.

This is the escape window.  It is very big and will let a lot of light into the basement.

The front porch is the square in the middle.

The back left is the master suite.

This is a picture of the full basement from on top of the dirt pile.

Pouring the Basement Walls: The Big Day is Here!

Woohoo!  We have been waiting on this day!  So exciting.  We were amazed at this company who came in and set up all the forms for the walls and then also poured the walls in the same day.  They certainly had a lot of workers and they each had a specific role.  Everything went extremely smoothly.  It was amazing how quickly things went once the forms were in place.

The pumper truck is set up and ready to go!

Beginning to pour the walls

The concrete trucks were steadily rolling in

Braeden is hard at work!

What can I say......Braeden would rather "work" than play!  He loves driving anything he can get his hands on or what we allow him to get his hands on. He loves driving the Gator.

Now he is digging with the excavator.  He would do this all day if we would allow him to.  He LOVES this and is so proud when he is working with the excavator.  His Papaw has taught him how to run it and he was sitting with Braeden in the field when he was 4 years old letting him dig a hole for hours!

Footings Complete in the Basement....Garage is Next!

All of the footers in the basement have been poured.  They are preparing for the basement walls to be poured.

Peak-a-boo...I see you!  Yes, there is a ditch and there is someone in it!  Dad, Braeden, and Brian "supervising" : )
 Lily is having fun!

Dad and Mike discussing how the drain from the house will tie into the drainage tile in the field.

The dirt and rocks are just too much temptation.  He has had so much fun!
Dad is assisting Mike with placing about 4 inches of rock above and below the perforated pipe for drainage from the basement.

Brian is assisting Mike with the drainage tile.
